In modern digital healthcare, visual precision and real-time synchronization are paramount. A prominent medical systems integrator sought an enterprise-grade hardware solution to digitize operating rooms (OR) for a networked group of hospitals. The objective was to capture multiple high-definition medical video sources simultaneously and transmit them with ultra-low latency to remote expert clinics and hospital lecture theatres for real-time surgical guidance and medical training.
Modern ORs require simultaneous monitoring of diverse video feeds, including ultra-high-definition endoscopes (4K), surgical boom cameras, room-view ambient cameras, and vital sign patient monitors.
During critical surgical procedures, any video delay can lead to miscommunication between the operating surgeon and remote experts. Ensuring sub-second latency over standard networks while preserving pristine 4K clarity is critical for real-time surgical guidance.
The integrator deployed a synchronized hardware matrix utilizing the ORIVISION EH1304 4-Channel Encoder at the source and the ORIVISION DH931 4K Video Decoder at the receiving nodes.
4-CH HDMI Input (Up to 2x 4K@30Hz + 2x 1080P@60Hz) → H.265 Hardware Compression → Secure SRT / RTSP / RTMP IP Streaming.
Multi-Channel IP Stream Input → Hardware H.265 Ultra-HD Decoding → Ultra-Low Latency 4K HDMI + VGA + CVBS Simultaneous Output.
Sub-Second End-to-End Latency
The hardware-to-hardware combination of EH1304 and DH931 achieved an end-to-end latency of under 300ms, enabling real-time verbal coaching during critical surgical steps.
PC-Free Operational Reliability
Eliminating software-based media players at the receiving end drastically reduced system crashes, virus vulnerabilities, and configuration errors, ensuring 100% uptime for medical operations.
