Q: What is the difference between a 4-channel HDMI capture card and a single-channel capture card?
A 4-channel HDMI capture card like the ORIVISION UCH904 captures four independent HDMI video sources simultaneously through a single USB connection, with each source appearing as a separate webcam device in OBS, vMix, or other streaming software. This eliminates the need for multiple single-channel capture cards, USB hubs, or complex multi-PC setups. Each of the four channels supports 4K60 input with dedicated HDMI loop-out, making multi-camera live streaming, multi-angle recording, and group broadcasting significantly more streamlined and cost-effective.
Is the UCH904 compatible with OBS Studio, vMix, and other streaming platforms?
Yes. The ORIVISION UCH904 uses standard UVC (USB Video Class) protocol, which means no driver installation is required. It works out of the box on Windows, macOS, and Android. All four channels are recognized as independent UVC video devices, so you can assign them separately in OBS Studio, vMix, Streamlabs, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and any UVC-compatible application. It is fully compatible with multi-platform streaming workflows including YouTube Live, Twitch, TikTok LIVE, Facebook Live, and Kick.
Can I stream to 4 different platforms simultaneously with the UCH904?
Yes. Because each of the 4 HDMI channels appears as a separate UVC video device, you can route each channel independently. For example: assign Channel 1 to OBS for YouTube, Channel 2 to vMix for Facebook, Channel 3 to TikTok LIVE Studio, and Channel 4 to Twitch Studio — all from a single computer without virtual camera workarounds. Multiple channels can also be combined in one OBS instance for Picture-in-Picture, side-by-side, or multi-angle switching layouts. The hardware encoding happens on the capture card itself, so CPU load remains minimal across all 4 simultaneous streams.
Does the UCH904 require an external power supply? What cables are included?
The UCH904 supports PD Fast-Charging (up to 100W) and can be powered directly from the USB-C port on your computer or phone. For short-duration use, no external power adapter is needed. For extended 4-channel 4K capture sessions, we recommend connecting a PD charger to ensure stable performance. The package includes a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C to Type-C data cable and a user manual. For optimal high-resolution capture across all four channels, use a Thunderbolt 3/4 cable to maximize the 10Gbps bandwidth. Note: a PD power adapter and HDMI cables are not included and should be purchased separately.
How does audio work on the UCH904? Can I capture 4 separate audio sources?
The UCH904 features a stereo Line Audio IN port that captures external audio from mixing consoles, microphones, or other audio sources. This analog audio is digitized and embedded into UVC Channel 1. The four HDMI inputs each carry their own embedded HDMI audio, which is captured per-channel. This means you can have 4 independent HDMI audio streams plus one external line audio source mixed into Channel 1 — ideal for live productions where a mixing console feed needs to accompany the primary camera angle. Audio is captured at 48KHz/24bit stereo, with 5.1-channel support.
